A question we often get when couples are touring our venue is, “Where do people typically take photos?”. The best part about this question is the honesty in which we can answer, “Everywhere!”.
Downtown Culpeper is crawling with amazing places to take your wedding photos and The Refinery is perfectly located in the heart of it all. Every photo op is within a two minute walk or drive, which means that your wedding album can have ALL of these shots, without you even trying!
Here is a list of our top 10 favorites:
1. Yowell Meadow Park—A beautiful park, complete with fountain and trees, this spot is only a 2 minute drive from the Downtown. It’s a perfect spot to give you the lush green grass and warm sunsets that you might be looking for.

2. The Top of Davis Street—Culpeper’s most popular street can be quite the sight at night time! With the right photographer and a well-timed pair of headlights, magic can happen.

3. Behind The Refinery— Behind our beloved building, there are several unique and industrial looking wallscapes. The backdrops are a photographer’s dream for full bridal party because the space and details abound.

4. The Very End of Davis Street — Not only do you get an urban feel with this shot, but you also have all of the locals shouting well wishes and honking horns. People love a gal in a wedding dress!

5. The Movie Theater Parking Lot— It may seem crazy, but the movie theater lot has some goregous, low hanging trees and fall leaves to work with. Good photographers can work with ANY setting.

6. The Yellow Brick Road— This stunning spot is located between The Cameleer and The Rusty Willow on Davis Street. It is a must for all brides looking to wow.

7. In Front of the Courthouse— The Culpeper Courthouse is the quintessential, small town courthouse. It’s about a one minute walk from The Refinery and when the sun hits it just right, it sings.

8. This Brick Wall— Located directly behind The Refinery is this snazzy brick wall. Easy to direct family members to and an industrial setting for all group shots!

9. The Old Train Car— Located at the end of Davis Street, this old train car is the perfect backdrop for your white wedding dress. If you’re feeling brave, climb up in that bad boy and go for the conductor photo.

10. The Love Sign— Last, but not least, is this crowd favorite. Made by a local Culpeper artist out of old film reels from the Library of Congress Film Archives (also located in Culpeper), this spot at the end of Davis Street is sure to help you capture the small town love that Culpeper is known for.
